Bro. Pius Joseph OCD was born at Vallam in Thanjavur on Jan 28, 1937. Having discerned his vocation to religious life, he confided his heart to his confessor who directed him to our friars in Pothanur, and he joined the Carmelite Order in 1951, and made his first vows in 1958. Since then, he had served the Church and the Carmelite Order as a faithful and hardworking religious. Even after the bifurcation of the Province, giving birth to the Tamil Nadu Province, he continued to render his service and support to the Manjummel Province. This pious soul rested in the Lord today (July 28, 2021) at 3:30 a.m. Let us thank the Lord for the gift of Bro. Pius while praying for his departed soul. As we are expecting the arrival of his family members from Tamil Nadu, the funeral service and the final rites may be held on July 29, 2021.
