Formation

Being the largest Province in the Carmelite Order we identify our specific identity in the Universal Church on the promotion of vocations and the formation of seminarians preparing them to be missionaries in different part of the world. Right now we have 235 religious priests and we serve as missionaries in Asia, Africa and America.

ADOPT A SEMINARIAN

We have an average of 110 seminarians in formation,

with a serious program of theological and philosophical studies in various disciplines,

spiritual and academic level. This reality of ongoing formation is a guarantee of the future Carmelite Missionary Priests.

You personally help a future priest as possible as you can covering for their food, loadging and study expences. your priest will pray and remember you at the Altar daily.

Formation in the Province

The formation to religious priesthood in the Manjummel Province begins with the one year initiation course in Pius Nagar where the new candidates are taught to lead a disciplined, liturgy and prayer oriented life; they are introduced to the immense world of the Word of God. They are taught well the English language and given an introduction to Classical Latin. The second stage begins with the intensive following of the Plus one and two courses as private students in our San JuanBhavan. It is also a time of discernment and preparation for a serious commitment to religious life.

Once these initial preparations and studies are over the candidates are selected for postulancy, an intensive time of preparation for novitiate. The candidates are taught the works of the Carmelite saints and led to a life of prayer and meditation, to experience the depth of Carmelite charism. In the novitiate the candidates are made aware of the demands of consecrated vowed life; they are guided in the way of Carmelite mental prayer and to experience the presence of the Lord in an extraordinary manner. With the first religious profession they get temporary membership in the life of the Order.

The following years are years of serious study and research. Three years of philosophical studies and one year of community experience and four years of theological studies allow one to reach his goal of religious priesthood. The final commitment is done in the second year of theology.
