It is a stage of formation whereby the candidate gradually passes from secular life to religious life to be lived in the novitiate. Postulancy is a necessary requirement for all candidates to religious life in the province, even if they have done their initiation and Plus Two courses in the province. Postulancy, as a rule, is for nine months, unless in particular cases the provincial decides otherwise. However, it may not exceed two years.

In keeping with the directives of the Church, postulancy and novitiate are conducted in different communities. It is up to the provincial to decide where and how postulancy is to be done and all other matters connected with it.
