Education

Education is one of the ways of the uplifting the life of the people. Through education we are able to form a generation who can work for the welfare of the church and the society. Our pioneers knew this reality very well. Hence they venture into establishing education institutions so that even poor people can afford it. They constructed and managed two schools at Manjummel and Perumpadappu. They had the big heart to help the education institutions of the diocese. At the request of the Dioces of Cochin they accepted the management of St. Peter’s school and Boarding in 1935 and the request of the Archdiocese of Verapoly, the teaching post in St. Rita’s School at Ponnurunny and its management from 1941. Manjummel Discalced Province at present has nine schools across the country through which we form a better generation for the country and the Church. The province has also two academic centres namely Sacred Heart Philosophy College, Aluva and JyotirBhavan, Institute of Theology and Spirituality, affiliated to Teresianum, Rome, open toall religious congregations and lay persons, offering Bachelor’s degree in Philosophy and Theology and Diploma in spirituality.
