Spiritual ministry

The ardent desire of Manjummel friars to care for the spiritual needs of the faithful was very evident from the time of its inception. Manjummel friars were and are still holding that great legacy of the gospel preachers in the Kerala Catholic Church. The great charismatic revival movement in Catholic Church of Kerala was initiated by Rev. Fr. Sebastian Mundancherry OCD through the Convention named ManjummelMaholsavam which moved thousands of hearts into Jesus. The famous Mission Retreat by Manjummel friars still continues to be conducted at different parishes across the state. Besides the two major retreat centres namely Carmelite Retreat Centre (CRC) at Manjummel and Carmel Evangelization Centre at Perumpadappu the province has 10 retreat and spiritual centres whichcaters to the spiritual needs of the faithful in different states of India. The province also takes care of eight parishes which includethree historical churches of Kerala Catholic Church namely St. Joseph’s Church at Varapuzha, Immaculate Conception Church at Manjummel and Good Shepherd Church at Kottayam. Our friars are also rendering their spiritual help to many parishes in the country and outside the country through the ministry of the sacraments.
