The book is an investigation into the social, cultural, religious, political and pastoral context of the Catholic popular devotions in the Church in Kerala with a view to discover how Church can exercise her evangelizing mission in this context, how these devotions can be effectively used as instruments of catechesis and how the ambient of popular devotions can be converted into that of dialogue with people of other faith.  It studies also how much the popular devotions can be a help to promote an attitude of contemplation.
